1. What is NDIS?  

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is the program that offers support to every resident of Australia with a complete or partial disability of any kind. It transfers funds directly to the participants to choose the best services providers. The NDIS works with the approach to improve the life of people with disabilities.

2. Who is eligible for NDIS funding? 

The following criteria is provided by the NDIS to determine whether an individual is eligible to become an NDIS participant:

  • You must be an Australian resident/citizen or have a Protected Special Category Visa.
  • Below 65 years old.
  • Living in an area where the NDIS is operating.

3. What is SIL funding and who can get it? 

Supported Independent Living (known as SIL) is a NDIS funded support that provides help and/ or supervision of daily tasks to help a participant live as independently as possible, while building their skills.  SIL can happen in the participants home which may be shared with other NDIS participants.
Supported independent living is for people with higher support needs, who need some level of help at home all the time.
Supported independent living is best suited to people with a disability who have higher support needs.
This means the individual needs a significant amount of help throughout the day, 7 days a week. This includes overnight support

4.What services do One Doorway provide?

We know that some organisations offer SIL as well as a range of other services. One Doorway offers one service: Supported Independent Living.
Our focus is on delivering these supports really well to ensure great outcomes for all.

5. Will I have regular support workers from One Doorway or will they be randomly chosen for each shift? 

One Doorway is committed to building tailored 24 hour SIL programs for participants to ensure their support team are the perfect match for their needs.
This means we only recruit support workers based on the preferences of our clients.
We have found this model to be incredibly successful as our clients play a key role in building their support team.

6. Does One Doorway provide accommodation as well as SIL? 

At One Doorway, we are dedicated to ensuring our participants have a safe and comfortable home to live in. We work with all of our clients to help find them the right accommodation solution.

7. What are the NDIS TTP rates?

One Doorway charges NDIS participants the rates published in the NDIS Support Catalogue, for the services it provides. 

We will continue to charge the Temporary Transformation Payment rates (a scheme designed to assist in ensuring sufficient service provision for NDIS participants).  House Cleaning, House/Yard Maintenance and Sleepovers are not affected by this.
