Supported Independent Living

What is Supported Independent Living?

Supported Independent Living (known as SIL) is a NDIS funded support that provides help and/ or supervision of daily tasks to help you live as independently as possible, while building your skills. SIL can happen in your home which may be shared with other NDIS participants. SIL is different to Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA), which refers to living in a physical house and is funded separately. One Doorway is collaborating with SDA providers across Victoria to offer new SDA homes in all design categories. These include Improved Liveability, Fully Accessible, Robust and High Physical Support.

SIL supports look different for each individual, but some of the areas we can support you with include: Moving into your own home for the first time Settling into your new home Personal Care such as showering, dressing getting ready for the day Assistance with taking Medication Household Tasks such as laundry, cleaning and looking after your home. Shopping and Meal Preparation Budgeting Supporting you to and from appointments Helping you to connect with your community
